With Inauguration Day upon us, the peaceful transition of power that is so important to our democratic function as a society will see Barack Obama leave the office of the Presidency behind for Donald Trump.
No Presidency is perfect. Whether Democrat, Republican, Whig or something else, our nation has made progress and survived for so long with this understanding in mind. President Obama’s last eight years in office have had their share of ups and downs. The same will be likely with the administration of President-elect Trump. This nation is more than just one man. While the President is the Commander-in-Chief and Leader of the Free World, they can only go so far without “We the People.”
That being said, whether you love him or love to hate him, we must thank President Obama for his years of service to our country. At the very least, one has to recognize the fact that he was a skilled orator. This skill helped him win two Presidential elections. It had the ability to stir conflict, as well as bring hope.
As President Obama leaves office, we at the American Journal wish him well. We wish the same to incoming President Trump. It’s the American thing to do. We say goodbye to 44 with a link here to CNN, compiling some of the best oratory moments of President Obama’s time in office.
